Introduction

 Jared's Rantings and Ratings

    I've avoided doing this for so long. Years ago I decided that I wanted to do something like a blog so the people around me aren't the only ones burdened by my frequent rants and to practice writing in a casual setting. I also really like learning about things and comparing them. 

    My goal with this blog is to create a space where I can rant, rank, or whatever; and if anyone has the desire to read what I say and learns something, even better. The topics will range across the board: places, animals, people, languages, etc. Anyone close to me knows that I am a huge history and geography nerd. I am currently studying an MA in the Bible and the Ancient Near East. The various places I have lived and visited will pop up often as well. The one subject I plan to avoid when possible is politics. We get enough of that throughout social media. If you are one of the few people still reading, feel free to contribute to my rants, correct me, or ask questions on any of my posts.

I'm going to specify at the beginning of my posts whether it contains a rant, a ranking/rating, or something else; followed by the topic. So you can decide right away if it's up your alley or not.

I try to be open-minded and accept correction. Keep in mind that many of the various opinions I will express are subjective, not necessarily factual. If I make any educational posts, I will do my best to provide appropriate sources. You will probably notice endless "qualifiers" if you read my posts. These are words or phrases that emphasize how what I'm saying is not concrete truth. Words like "probably," "likely," phrases such as "it appears that..."
